HOW IT WORKS

How ACT Prep Works

Free Consultation

We learn about your student’s schedule, goals, target schools, and how they learn best.

Diagnostic Test

Your student takes a portion of an official ACT. We analyze every section and every wrong answer.

Custom Plan

We build a tutoring plan around your student’s specific weaknesses — not a generic curriculum.

1-on-1 Tutoring

Sessions in your home or on Zoom, on your schedule, with a dedicated tutor who fits your student.

Ongoing Analysis

We track progress, adjust the plan, and tell you honestly when more sessions won’t help.

QUALIFICATION

Is the ACT Right for Your Student?

Not every student should take the ACT. And not every student who takes it needs a tutor. The first thing we do at MJ Prep is figure out whether the ACT is even the right test for your student, and whether tutoring makes sense at all.

After your free consultation, your student takes a diagnostic with official ACT material. We analyze it section-by-section, compare to a recent PSAT score where available, and recommend the right path forward. That might be an ACT tutoring plan. It might be the SAT instead. It might be self-prep. We’ll tell you the truth either way — our goal is the right outcome for your student, not more billable hours.

OUR TUTORS

Vetted, trained, and obsessed with the test

Every MJ Prep tutor takes a full-length ACT during hiring, clears background and reference checks, and finishes paid training before meeting a student. They’re rigorously vetted. But more than that, they know how to teach, adapt, and build confidence in students anxious about standardized testing.

MJ Prep founder Michael Jordan takes the ACT every year and has received nothing but perfect scores. The bar is high.

What ACT families say

★★★★★

When we met with Michael for the free consultation, he spoke with my daughter about her learning preferences to determine which tutor would be a good match. Rachana was indeed a good match — and my daughter improved her ACT score by 9 points across 6 sessions.

Donovan Kelly immediately identified the areas my daughter needed the most help with and helped her feel more confident. He was prompt, thorough, and extremely flexible with our crazy schedule. My daughter's composite score increased by 6 points. Worth every penny.

FAQ

ACT Prep Questions DFW Parents Ask

How much does in-home ACT tutoring cost in Dallas-Fort Worth?

Pricing varies based on package length and how often you meet. We give you a custom quote on the free consultation, after we understand your student's goals and target score.

How many sessions does my student need to see real ACT score gains?

Most students see meaningful gains in 6-8 sessions. The exact plan depends on starting score, target, and consistency between sessions. We build the plan after the diagnostic so you know what to expect.

Do you tutor in-home or online?

Both. Most DFW families choose in-home 1-on-1 sessions at their kitchen table or living room. Online via Zoom is available for families who prefer it or live further out.

What is a realistic ACT score improvement?

It depends entirely on the student: starting score, target, time before the test, and how consistently they practice between sessions. After the diagnostic we set evidence-based, student-specific goals — never generic promises.

When should my student start ACT prep?

We typically start 2-3 months before a student’s first official test. That gives enough runway to learn the test, build strategy, and run full-length practice sets without burning them out.
