Being a student is hard. Classes can be tough, you have to deal with drama from your peers, and if you’re a working student, you have just another dimension of stress. There’s a bright side, though: being a student can get you some pretty nice vacation deals. In fact, here are three student-discounted vacation ideas.
New York City
This one might be a little tame compared to the other two ideas on this list, but who can really resist a trip to the City That Never Sleeps? Instead of one specific location in New York, this list boasts quite a few places to visit. First up is the Metropolitan Museum of Art, which is discounted to $12 from the regular $25. For any entertainment fans, there’s the option of $10 Mets tickets or $10 student tickets at Carnegie Hall. And for food or coffee, try The Bean, where you’ll get 10% off your bill. For more ideas, check City Guide NY’s list of performance venues, museums, retailers, and restaurants that offer student discounts in New York.
Disneyland
Disneyland is one of the most magical places on Earth; it’s also one of the most expensive. Luckily for students, the cost can be mitigated by simply being a student. The best thing about it, though, is that students receive discounts no matter the grade they’re in. According to Park Savers, certain colleges offer discounted Disneyland Tickets through what’s known as the Student Union. Another way to get cheap tickets is the Disney Youth Education Series or the YES program. Basically, Disney offers on-site classes for things like science, art, environmental studies, and leadership. The catch, though, is that the courses are mandatory, but considering you get discounted Disneyland tickets, it doesn’t seem like too bad of a deal.
Eurail
If you want to travel abroad, then Eurail is for you. Eurail is a rail pass that works throughout Europe, and there are several variations that can be used to explore Europe. The particular pass that we’ll focus on here is the Eurail Youth Pass, which gets anyone under 27 years old a 23% discount. The fantastic thing about the Eurail pass is that no matter what other kinds of passes you get, you can always qualify for the youth discount in both first and second class. Speaking of other passes, there’s also a Global Pass that works in 31 different countries and the One Country Pass that allows travel in only one country.
Being a student can be pretty rough, but there’s plenty of perks to it, too. Whether it is exploring the Big Apple, hanging out at Disneyland, or even traveling for a study abroad in Europe, just remember that it’s not all bad. As a student, it’s important to be smart with your money. After all, discounts like this don’t hang around forever. Use what’s available to the fullest extent.
